The Museums Quarter, MQ short, is a unique artistic and cultural complex near the Hofburg palace.

The buildings originally conceived as imperial riding stables in the 18th century, include about 60 cultural institutions, such as the world famous Leopold Museum, the Museum of Modern Art and the Art Hall.

The spectrum of this cultural district also includes architecture, theater, dance, fashion, new media, literature, design, readings, films, children's culture and more.

Its special atmosphere is mainly due to the mixture of baroque and modern architecture, its pub scene and its central courtyard used as an outdoor recreation area.

In the Museums Quarter art is presented by both renowned as well as lesser-known artists, not only in showrooms but also on the open spaces of the diverse areas which contributes to its special flair.
